Tear Down This Wall

Ephesians 2:14-18
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

On June 12, 1987, President Ronald Reagan spoke the people of West Berlin at the base of the Brandenburg Gate, near the Berlin wall.  President Ronald Reagan gave this address:
..."General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek
prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek
liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this
gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!'"

You know as I think about it, the American military could have broken down that wall. We could have used our power and guns to remove that wall and grind it into powder. But that would not have brought the peace needed. It had to be torn down by the very ones who put it there.

God could have removed the wall of partition that was against us Gentiles from Heaven if He would have chosen to do so. He could have ground the wall into pieces that no man could have restored it. Our God that spoke the world into existence, could have spoken this wall down with one command. But he didn't choose to do it that way. He chose to send His only Son to die a sinners death on the cross in order to remove it. You see man had placed that wall there through sin, so man must remove the wall. But not an ordinary, sinful man. No, it had to be Christ, the sinless, spotless lamb of God. Sin placed it there, but the death for sin removed it. It brought access!  It brings peace!

Today, if Christ has removed the wall that separated you from God then why do you attempt to rebuild it through your sin?  Tear down the walls this morning. He has given you total access to the throne. Thank you Lord for removing the wall of separation. Thank you for providing me with access and peace. Thank you Jesus for "tearing down this wall".
