Show It While You Sow It

Luke 8:1
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God:and the twelve were with him,

In the chapter was the first passage of scripture that I ever preached. It is the message of the sower. It explains in detail what we are to sow and where we are to sow. What we sow, would be the Gospel of Jesus. Where we sow, would be everywhere. Ours is not to look at the soil and see if it's worthy or ready for the seed. Ours is just to sow the seed.

When reading over this scripture 20 years later I noticed something great in the beginning. Why did God want the people who were with Jesus on this day and time to be mentioned?  I believe for a greater message just as important to go along with the sower. It shows who Jesus sowed the Gospel to.

The "twelve", a bunch of men that no one else wanted. Many if these men wouldn't have been picked to be on the local church committee much less to be some of the greatest preachers of the Gospel.

Susanna, Joanna, and need I say, Mary Magdalene. Most people wouldn't even talk or look at these women, but not Jesus. He sowed the seed.

Look at what our scripture shows us today. Jesus went into ever city and village, preaching and SHOWING. Many are preaching but few are showing. They are many very good at pointing out the soil but not pointing them to Jesus.

I'm so thankful for a Savior who loves us by showing it on the cross of Calvary. Lord help me today to not just speak it but to show while I sow it.
